Dragon Rampant Simple Campaign System

So I've just adapted the old campaign system from Warhammer Ancient battles to Dragon Rampant, its a simple system with no map and little book keeping. It would be great if I could get some feedback, I really don't do much writing, not sure how clearly I've written it and whether it'll make sense to anyone but me. It's only two of pages and most of that is charts.
Edit:
This is the second version of the rules, I'll probably leave this as is until I get to actually test them out.

New Years Wargaming Resolution's

In an attempt to organise myself and hopefully get a bit more done this year I have resolved to write a plan. So first up a list of outstanding projects:

1. Mordhiem buildings - I've finished building them, now I need to paint the buggers, I'll need some extras; statues, crates, barrels, maybe some extra walk ways and other bits of dressing.

2. Mordhiem Warband - Dark Elves first, then my Mercs. This should be a relatively quick job considering the size of the warbands. Having said that I have started the elves then hit a bit a painting block.

3. Lord of the Rings - I've been working on my various LoTRs armies for years, finished Rohan, Dwarfs and a quite a large Mordor/Angmar force. This year I really want to finish all the minis I've already purchased including my Elves (around 40 infantry and 6 cav), extra Orcs (30 odd infantry, 14 cav and a couple of trolls) and extras (another 30 odd figures, 2 giant eagles and an Ent).

These are the three projects I really want finished in 2016, I've got some other projects that I've effectively shelved (maybe lofted would be more accurate)
These include my Perry War of the Roses, Epic Space Wolves, Eldar and add-on s for my Death Guard and IG.
Next a list of other projects I've been contemplating:

1. Fallout, inspired by all the excellent project logs on the lead adventure forum post-apoc section and the AARs for the this is not a test game not to mention Fallout 4 I really want to start a wastle land terrain project and a couple of factions, emphasis on a "couple" one of my Wargaming faults is the fact I can never seem to just pick up one faction of any game I get into, it starts with "I need two, my lads will need opponents" then snow balls from there. Well no more I'm gonna concentrate on one faction, probably lowly wastelanders, this way I can theme my terrain around them, for Wastelanders I was thinking of a ramshackle settlement for them to defend.

2. Game of Thrones, following the new Perry 100yr wars French stuff this is a really tempting project, the French infantry really match my mental image of the armies of Westeros and Lion Rampant, which is probably the game I've enjoyed the most in 2015, would be perfect for the size of army I'd like to build.
I could even repurpose my war of the Roses stuff into a Lannister force.

3. Publish some rules, well publish sounds a bit grandiose for my ambition's. I've worked on a couple of sets (I have a few note books of scribbling stored away) its fun but I've always come to the conclusion that theres already been something better that's already been done, and really how many fantasy skirmish games does the world need? So I really want to do modding of existing sets I'm working on a mod for Dragon Rampant at the moment which hopefully shouldn't take too long to get out there.

So onto my resolutions:

1. No more Games Workshop figures. Its not that I hate them with the vehemence that I regularly see on the various forums and facebook pages, its just they really don't make much that I'm interested in now, I've spent so much money on there stuff over the years almost my entire collection of Wargames stuff is GW, I think that's a bit of shame when there are so many great little figure makers out there that desrve support. This may sound a bit strange considering the recent announcement they have made re specialist games and the fact that a large part of my hobby time is spent on the games people say they are going to revive, it's just I don't think Mordhiem or Epic need another edition, I enjoy them as they are and the're free and supported by the community.

1.5. No more buying any miniatures until Salute, that's right if I write it down I'm defintely going to stick to it.

2. More blogging. This includes recording every game I have on the blog even if its just a couple pics and a paragraph.

3. Sell what I'm never going to use, this one pretty self explanatory.

So that's it, I'm going to do a mid year review so lets see if I can stick to the plan. Happy New year!

Ruined Fantasy town WIPs

So this has been my long term 2015 hobby project, nearly finished now, a couple of buildings and bits and pieces to do then onto the painting. Should get it done for christmas!

I'm always open to a bit of (not to much) constructive criticism, so if you've got any ideas for improving them fire away!

Small child added for scale.

Lion Rampant in Middle Earth

Finally had another chance to play Lion Rampant today against my regular Mordhiem opponent Matt at Warboar Wargaming in Bromley. We used standard rules even though they are Fantasy armies neither force lncluded any magic users or anything that can't be represented well by the standard rules.

I brought both armies and let Matt choose which one he wanted to use. He had the choice between Orcs and Dwarfs and chose Dwarfs.

The Orc army came out with a one point advantage, so we gave 0.5 glory to the Dwarfs to begin with.

Army lists:

Orcs

Warlord and body guard (Expert foot Sargent's) 6pts
Hill Troll (Mounted men at Arms) 6pts
Warg Riders (Mounted Two man with javelins) 3pts
2 Bands of Orc Warriors (Foot Yeoman) 6pts
Orc Archers (Archers) 4pts

Dwarfs

Dwarf King and Guard (Men at Arms with Leader) 6pts
Khazard Guard (Men at Arms) 6pts
Dwarf Warriors (Foot Sargent's) 4pts
Dwarf Archers (Expert Archers) 6pts
Dwarf Scouts (Widowers) 2pts

I luckily rolled Braveheart (only 6s count against my Leader in a duel) for my Leader while Matt got stuck with insipid (no leader courage bonus).

We rolled Blood Bath for the scenario, Matt chose "Every blade shall be drawn" (every unit must fight) as his boast and I went for "I shall slay your leader" (er...).

The game began with the Dwarfs advancing quickly across the board in a most undwarf like fashion. I failed a a lot of activations giving the initiative to the Dwarfs (in fact my troll stayed in his deployment zone up until the last couple of turns).

The Dwarf Scouts took a toll on the Orc warriors nearest the flank from the safety of the woods, while the Dwarf King advanced up the centre supported by the Archers who took a toll on the other Orc warriors slowly making there way up the board.

The Dwarfs looked to be in control as the Orcs were whittled down by bow fire, until the King and his elite guards managed to get stomped by a depleted Orc warrior unit (some lucky rolls on my part) the King was subsequently challenged to duel... and lost. The following courage tests put the stuntie retinue in a state of disarray.

The Orcs appeared to be gaining the upper hand. The remaining Dwarf Warriors formed a shield wall (schiltron) The Orc Warlord buoyed by his recent success charged said shield wall and ended up getting his face rearranged by a well made axe to the head.

With both leaders dead, the game appeared to be anyone's.  Luckily for me at this point my Troll woke up!

While the remaining dwarf warriors did take out the Warg Riders after a failed evade they then got stomped on by the troll. Which was pretty much the last action of the game.

By the time the game finished Matt was left with a full unit of Khazard Guard and the scouts while I had the troll and the Archers.

I won it on points but with both forces depleted and both leaders lying dead on the field it felt like a hollow victory so we called it a draw.

I think we both enjoyed the game. It was very close run thing, at times we both had the upper hand and then lost it. Reminded me why I like this game so much. Not sure when I'll get to play it again as we have a game of Mordheim next week then I'll need to get some practice in for my next Epic tournament. But would highly recommend Lion Rampant to anyone who's thinking of it.

The first turns saw the Dwarfs advance...
...while the orcs just milled around in there deployment zone.
Some very effective Dwarf scouts
Dwarfs advancing
My left flank getting whittled down by Dwarf archers
The Orc Warlord spy's the dwarf king across the field of battle
Getting into duel range
The leaders duking it out
Charging the shield wall...
...running away, backwards
A troll just chilling in the deployment zone
The Orcs finally on the move
Dwarfs being chased off into the mountains

Possible Frostgrave alternatives

I didn't get on the nickstarter for Frostgrave for a couple of reasons.
Firstly I wasn't that enamoured with the sculpts, I mean they look ok but nothing to write home about, the plastics have a lot of potential and I'm sure they will be people making lots of lovely conversions and mash ups with some of the other plastic sets on the market.
Secondly money, or rather the lack of it. It's hard justifying spending any cash on new figs when I have a few hundred unpainted ones in the pile.
Which leads me to this post, originally I was gonna use my WFB figs that I was (am☺) going to use for Mordheim, having played Frostgrave at Salute and then reading up on the back story I realised that the figs didn't really fit (this is purely subjective) with the vibe of the rules.
Sooo after searching the pile I came up with this little lot:

Obviously these guys are my wizards and apprentices, the only non GW LOTR figs are from the Perry crusader line.

I'm gonna use these as my grunts for my good wizards, probably use orcs for the not so good wizards minions.

I've got various character miniatures for the other types of henchmen. Now I just have to get the rulebook!
